The new
WAVEX range of Kippax Cricket bats.
Kippax
have introduced the concept of Wavex handles into our made
in England cricket bats.
Kippax Willow Ltd have the sole marketing
and distributions rights with Wavex International for the Wavex
Cricket Bat Handle.
The Wavex handle is unique
as it incorporates a 'wave' structure in the handle. The wave (or
ripple) is designed to vastly reduce friction/vibration by dampening.
This is achieved by the friction/vibration coming up the bat after
hitting the ball and hitting the waves in the handle. As energy
will run along a straight line (as in a normal handle), it cannot
run up and down repeated waves.
By testing
2 identical bats made from the same tree, one with a standard
'straight' handle and one with a Wavex handle the results are
staggering;Nearly 50% less engery was felt at the top of the
Wavex handle, or in other words 50% energy was re-directed
back to the ball impact point. We like to call it 'less engery/power
loss
Quote
from United Controls International Inc,
Tucker, Georgia, USA (Independently Tested):
“The power ratio when measured in reference to angular ball speed
(the amount of force striking the bat) is significantly greater with the waves
over the bat without the waves. Higher dampening of vibration waves in all
axis tend to indicate more energy transfer from the bat to the ball.
We conclude
from our tests that the wavex design
significantly
improves the power ratio of the bat by up to 50%
